Opening Session - Philanthropy, Social Investments and SDGs in Russia, here and now

About the Session

Sustainable Development Goals have been in the spotlight over the past two years. While private philanthropy has usually stayed aside of this discourse, corporate philanthropy has been viewed by stakeholders as a tool for solving acute social problems in Russian regions. Meanwhile, recognition of the UN global agenda, socio-economic impact of COVID-19 and the maturity of the charitable and donor community are shaping a new understanding of philanthropy as an investment. Russia is to play its role to ensure sustainable development both at the global and national levels, which can leverage additional communication partnerships opportunities for all stakeholders.

What is the role of charitable foundations and socially responsible companies in the strategic development of the country? What needs to be done to fully use the potential of the charitable community in Russia in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as the key National Development Goals of Russia until 2030? How can the state, business and foundations build partnerships to ensure a holistic approach to the implementation of the Goals?

The session is held in partnership with the Council for Social Innovation of the Subjects of the Russian Federation under the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation
