The Opening Session will bring together top-managers, leaders of Russian regions and key government agencies will discuss how they see the role of philanthropy and responsible business in the development of the Russian Federation, and its potential to contribute to realise the Sustainable Development Goals.

This year's Nobel Peace Prize went to the world's largest humanitarian organization, the UN World Food Program (WFP), for its work to combat hunger and for its contribution to building peace in conflict zones.

Discussion - 2020 Voluntary National Review on SDGs by the Russian Federation – what is next?

In July 2020, Russia presented its first Voluntary National Review on SDGs, which was prepared jointly by the Ministry of Economic Development and Analytical Centre for the Government of the Russian Federation. 

What is the plan moving forward towards the achievement of SDGs in Russia for the next decade, and what the role of philanthropy will be? The experts of this session will discuss if there is a need for a joint data resource centre on the national progress towards the SDGs, or a specific entity that would coordinate actions of various stakeholders in Russia.

Sustainable Development Goals are complex tasks that require non-trivial approaches to their solution and urge to rethink the traditional formats of philanthropy and search for new partnership opportunities. Today, there is a demand from business in Russia for the development of corporate volunteering and effective CSR programs, taking into account SDGs and its targets. During this challenging year, hundreds of thousands of people have joined the volunteer movement and thousands of organizations have demonstrated their willingness to cooperate in order to achieve common goals. On the example of the action #МЫВМЕСТЕ (we are together), the participants will discuss how companies have restructured their programs and how volunteering has become an effective mechanism for mobilizing forces.
